QR Code Generator is a free online tool that instantly converts URLs, text, contact info, Wi-Fi settings and more into QR codes. Generated QR codes can be downloaded as high-quality PNG images or copied to clipboard for use in business cards, posters, websites, product packaging and more.

It also provides a scan feature that reads the content from uploaded QR code images. Useful for adding website links to marketing materials, collecting participant info at events, or adding product detail page links. Size is also adjustable.

High-Density QR Code Generator

The QR Code Generator empowers you to create scannable, high-density 2D barcodes instantly. Unlike 1D barcodes that only store data horizontally, QR (Quick Response) codes store data in two dimensions, allowing for significantly higher information density.

History & Engineering

Invented in 1994 by Masahiro Hara at Denso Wave in Japan, the QR code was originally designed to track vehicle parts on high-speed assembly lines. The design was inspired by the black and white pieces on a Go board. Hara's team faced a challenge: making a code that could be scanned quickly from any angle. This led to the creation of the distinct square "Finder Patterns" located in three corners, which help the scanner instantly determine the code's position and orientation.

Advanced Features: Error Correction

One of the most powerful features of QR codes is Reed-Solomon error correction. This mathematical algorithm allows the code to be read even if it is dirty, damaged, or partially obscured.

  • Level L (Low): Restores ~7% of data. Uses the least space.
  • Level M (Medium): Restores ~15% of data. Standard for most use cases.
  • Level Q (Quartile): Restores ~25% of data.
  • Level H (High): Restores ~30% of data. This high resilience is what allows marketers to place logos or images in the center of a QR code without breaking it.

Privacy & Security

Many "free" QR code generators create "Dynamic QR Codes." These do not contain your actual data but instead point to the generator's server (e.g., `short.url/xyz`), which then redirects to your link. This allows them to track who scans your code and when. Malangdows creates Static QR Codes. Your data (URL, Text, WiFi password) is encoded directly into the image pattern. No server is involved, no tracking is possible, and the code will work forever, even if our website goes down.
